Especially refreshing in hot weather! Change the fruits or yogurt for your own creation.
Ingredients:
1 cup plain, non-fat yogurt
1/3 cup quick oats, uncooked
1/2 medium banana, sliced
1/2 cup sliced fresh strawberries
1 cup of raw spinach leaves (one large handful)
1/2 cup cold water or ice cubes
Preparation:
Place all the ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth, and enjoy! Sweeten to taste, if desired, with low or non-calorie sweetener such as xylitol, or stevia. You may also add cinnamon, nutmeg, grated ginger, etc. as suits your taste. These spices are good for you as well. See webmd for more information on spices and health.
A variation of this shake can be made with leftover, cooked oatmeal. Just substitute 1 cup of cooked oatmeal for the 1/3 cup of oats and 1/2 cup of cold water. Add just 2 ice cubes, if desired.
